Percutaneous Tibial Neuromudulation Device

Typical patients benefitting from the this treatment would be those suffering from urinary urgency, urinary frequency, urge incontinence, urinary retention, internal cystitis and / or pelvic pain.

Percutaneous Tibial Neuromodulation is a method of treatment whereby stimulation of the tibial nerve alters the function of the sacral nerves that control bladder function. A percutaneous needle electrode is inserted into the lower leg and stimualtion is applied via the tibial nerve to the patient's sacral nerves. The stimulator produces an adjustable electrical pulse that travels up to the sacral nerve plexus via the tibial nerve. Amplitide is then reduced slightly and treatment is continued for 30 minutes. The patient is treated once per week for 30 minutes. After approximately 12 weeks, significant reductions in urge frequency and intensity have been reported.

Alters function of sacral nerve ( by stimulating tibial nerve near ankle )

Can be also be used for pain management.
